So Many Best of and Worst of the Decade Lists!

Now that I think of it, I’m not sure why I did NOT not expect this deluge of “Best of”, “Worst of”, “Most ___ of” lists covering the past 10 years.  I would like to just say.. I CAN’T BELIEVE THIS DECADE IS ALREADY OVER!! 2000 still feels like it was just a couple years ago! OMG!

Anyway, there are sooo many lists out there in the blogosphere that I can’t possibly recap them all, but I thought maybe I could just post a few randomly ranked items into my own nonsensical list:

#10: These outfits worn by Britney Spears and Justin Timberlake in 2001 – from The 30 Most Outrageous Red Carpet Outfits of the 2000s.Also, designer jeans made The 10 Biggest Retail Trends of the Decade list. Remember how we ladies were all about black bootcut booty pants in the late 90’s? By 2002 we were happily buying loads of $200 jeans for those same booties.

#9 The Segway never changed our world as we knew it like it had promised, from The Worst Gadgets of the Decade.

#8 George W. Bush: “Too many good docs are getting out of the business. Too many OB-GYNs aren’t able to practice their love with women all across this country.” from The Dumbest Quotes of the 2000s.

#7 Miracle on the Hudson, from The 10 Most Inspiring Stories of the 2000s.

#6 Gilmore Girls, from The Top 10 TV Shows of the Decade. Ok, fine, Lorelai and Rory only got Honorable Mentions – but I MISS THEM.

#4 Rachel McAdams & Ryan Gosling, 2007 & 2008, from The 20 Saddest Celebrity Breakups of the 2000s.Btw, The Notebook should be #1 on some list somewhere out there like “Biggest Tearjerkers of the Decade” or “Best Pop Culturally-Relevant Pick-up Line of the 2000s”…

#3 John Ritter, 1948-2003, from The 50 Hottest Dead People of the Decade.

#2 Just a really cool chart of all the memes of the decade as simple icons.

#1 NYC, DVR, & digital cams. Not from any list, just 3 of my favorite life-changing things of the decade!

**And as a bonus: Foreign Policy’s arbitrary Best Years of the Decade.

  1. 2000
  2. 2002
  3. 2003
  4. 2004
  5. 2005
  6. 2006
  7. 2007
  8. 2009
  9. 2008
  10. 2001

For some reason, I’ve been hearing 2009 has been a really awful year for some of you.. but let us not forget about 2001!
